Almost 15 years ago I took part in a project, which immensely influenced my professional life. Together with my three friends I created a series of Polish language course books for foreigners “Hurra!!! Po polsku”. The series was well received both by the learners and the community of teachers and lecturers. At that time it was an innovative book – the first one on the Polish market which resembled western European publications. “Hurra!!! Po polsku” provided communicative approach in learning Polish, approach in which the starting point is a real situation not grammar problems. What is more, it was the first series of course books which consequently covered the levels from A1 to B1. My books are presented below.
After publication of Hurra!!! Po polsku I focused on teaching Polish and to some extent I have quitted methodology of Romance languages.
A few years later I got my Ph. D. and nowadays I am working in the Institute of Polish Philology of the Pedagogical University of Cracow.
POSTAW KROPKĘ
"Postaw kropkę" is a compilation of texts on culture including over 150 communication exercises for teaching Polish as a second or foreign language on A2-B1 levels.
It is a useful aid in developing both speaking and writing language communication competences, based on the most important and up-to-date texts describing Poland and its reality.
In the book, students learning Polish will find a wide range of items concerning the history of Polish language, life in contemporary Poland, Polish cuisine and well-known Polish people, including those living abroad. They will also find out which first names are the most popular and what are the most common superstitions.
Each text contains numerous exercises on speaking and writing and a complete novelty on Polish market – exercises on mediating.
The offer concerning mediating meets the new guidelines set by the Council of Europe and concerning teaching languages. The guidelines focus particularly on the abilities of transforming the text (mediating a text), cooperation in multilingual environment (mediating communication) and team work aimed at explaining concepts (mediating a concept).
The book also contains a wide range of exercises to monitor student’s progress in a conscious and consequent manner. That is why apart from regular revisions, it contains numerous further tips for self-assessment.

POSTAW KROPKĘ 2
"Postaw kropkę 2" is a collection of cultural texts and accompanying them over 120 communication tasks for teaching Polish as a foreign language and second for the A2 -B1 level.
The handbook supports the development of linguistic communication competences in the field of speaking and writing using the most important and up-to-date texts describing Poland and its realities. The novelty of the second part are proverbs and idioms, eponyms, proper names and winged words, which are the starting point for creating a lesson about culture. Importantly, many of the presented lexical elements relate to the common European linguistic heritage. The learner will find such sayings as: "Consent builds, discord ruins" or "Who asks doesn't err", the equivalent of which can be easily identified in his language.
In the set of tasks, as in the first part, Polish language learners will find a wide range of information on the Polish language and life in contemporary Poland, something about Polish cuisine and about music, architecture, art, Polish education, etc.

POŁĄCZ KROPKI
“Połącz kropki” is a collection of over 200 grammar and communication exercises for learner on A2-B1 level. It supports the development of communicative language competence concerning grammar and its practical usage. It organizes A1 level knowledge and completes it with two further levels. It can be also used as a help in preparation for B1 certificate exam. Apart from conventional drills it also provides many exercises which will allow students “to connect the dots”, in other words to use the knowledge they already possess in the process of acquiring new items. The activity of learners is crucial, their ability of logical thinking and formulating conclusions. The teacher does not need to explain the rule, they act more like a guide in independent discovering the rules.
The collection of exercises includes elements of self-evaluation which allow learners to control consciously the progress. It starts with an individual placement test which checks their communicative language competence. Every lesson finishes with a revision box which is the first form of feedback. Complex self-evaluation option can be also found at the end of the book.

O POLSCE PO POLSKU
How should we teach about culture? Definitely active participation is the best option, unfortunately sometimes we are supposed to prepare a lesson covering some aspects of cultural reality in school or course environment. In such a situation our posters/flashcard “About Poland in Polish” for developing cultural competence can be really helpful. They are connected with language exercises. The posters can be used by learners on every level but they are particularly useful during lessons with A1 and A2 groups. The set of posters contains maps (for example a map of Polish tourist attractions, a cookery map), famous Polish people presented in an unconventional way (for example famous Polish people abroad, famous Polish women), posters with interesting language phenomena such as borrowings, eponyms, games and plays (word plays, quizzes)

“Polish at work” is an offer for the learners who have already acquired language basics and now intend to move to business Polish. There are more and more foreigners working in Poland who are provided Polish courses by their employers. This fact inspired creation of the item.
